ORLEANS – It’s the beginning of fall on Cape Cod and that means it’s time for the annual Orleans Chamber of Commerce ClamBQ.
The Orleans Food and Music festival is Saturday at Eldredge Park from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The family-friendly event features three local musical acts, a clambake and barbeque, a kiddie land and craft fair.
“It is part of our attempt to create business in the shoulder season in Orleans and also attract people to come to town when things are starting to slow down,” said Noelle Pina, the executive director of the Orleans Chamber of Commerce.
The clambake, from Local Bake Masters, includes a 1 and 1/4 pound lobster, steamers, red potatoes, an ear of corn, butter and broth.
“It’s a great deal,” said Pina. “There are not many festivals where you can go and have a clambake for $37 and have it include admission as well.”
The Orleans Bowling Center will provide the barbeque, which includes a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, baked beans and cole slaw.
“They donate all the proceeds of the barbeque back to the chamber,” Pina said.
For those looking for other food options, the food court will have food for sale from six other restaurants.
Three local musical acts will also take to the stage.
Jordan Renzi will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“She’s been making a name for herself on Cape Cod playing in a lot of different cafes and restaurants,” Pina said. “She is very well known.”
The Rip-It-Ups! take to the stage from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
“They played last year and they did a great job and were a wonderful set to have in the middle of the day,” Pina said. “[They are] very energetic, very family-fiendly. Everybody loved them and we’re glad to have them back.”
The Grab Brothers will close the show from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
“They are high energy. They have a great set and people know them and love them,” Pina said. “So we are looking forward to having them at the festival too.”
Pina said the music is the first thing that has to be planned for event.
“We had to contact all the bands back in March,” she said.
About 3,000 people attended last year’s festival which was 2,000 more than 2014.
Rain is in the forecast for Saturday but the event will take place rain or shine as tents will be set up.
