Orleans Fifth Grader Wins Mercy Otis Warren 2018 ‘Freedom of Expression Essay Award’

Mercy Otis Warren

BARNSTABLE-  The 2018 Mercy Otis Warren ‘Cape Cod Freedom of Expression Essay Award’ has gone to Orleans 5th grader Molly Fiteau.

Fiteau based her essay on the work she did while volunteering at the Barnstable County Fair, her participation in the 4-H club, and her enjoyment of drawing and sketching.

The committee introduced the essay contest to increase the awareness of the Revolutionary-era poet, play write, polemicist, and historian Mercy Otis Warren.

The young writer has been invited to read her essay at the Women of the Year award ceremony on June 5th at Tales of Cape Cod in Barnstable Village.
