Orleans Historical Society to Host Spooky October

ORLEANS – October is here and that means Halloween events will move into full swing across Cape Cod.

The Orleans Historical Society’s Spooky October will feature several events that may get the hairs on visitors’ arms to stand up.

Two Halloween Cemetery Walks will be held throughout the month.

Starting at the Meeting House, town historian Bonnie Snow will lead groups through the Orleans Cemetery, which has graves dating back as far as the 1800s.

Attendees will learn about residents who made large contributions to both the community and the world.

The walks are October 7 and 27 at 10 a.m.

On October 19, the lecture “Understanding Early Gravestones and the Stories They Tell” will feature Laurel Gabel.

The presentation will introduce attendees to the symbolism and special language of gravestones and the attitudes about death and memorialization that they reflect.

Events conclude on Halloween night with Spookfest at the Creepy Cabaret. The multimedia event features Halloween themed music in a cabaret format performed by father/daughter duo Kenneth and Kaeza Fearn.

The concert is $30, $25 for members and $15 for students.
