ORLEANS – The Orleans Thanksgiving Oyster Harvest gets underway Thursday.

Town officials say approximately 100,000 oysters have been dispersed in Pleasant Bay between two buoys off the Route 28 landing.

The area is accessible from shore at low tide.

Valid Orleans family permit holders can take one ten-quart basket per week. Commercial permit holders can also take one ten-quart basket for family use only.

Oysters must be at least 3 inches in length.
