Orleans Town Hall to Exhibit Student Art in March

 

National Youth Art Month 2016National Youth Art Month is in March and the Orleans Cultural Council will present its annual Student Art Show.

The art show will be held throughout the entire month of March at Orleans Town Hall on School Street.

The exhibit will feature more than 80 works of art from students in grades 6 through 12 from Cape Cod Lighthouse Charter School, Nauset Regional Middle School and Nauset Regional High School.

The pieces represent several mediums including oil, acrylic and water color paintings, along with photography, monoprint, collage, sculpture, fashion design, wood and jewelry.

The exhibit is open to the public.

A reception celebrating the students work will be held in Town Hall on Friday, March 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

National Youth Art Month was started in 1961 to celebrate visual arts for students in kindergarten through high school.

The Youth Art Month Program emphasizes the value of art education for all children, encourages support for quality school art programs, and promotes art material safety.

The theme for this year’s youth art month is “The Power of Art.”
