OSV Update: North Beach, Chatham

CHATHAM – Oversand vehicle access to the southern portion of Chatham’s North Beach is being modified again as a result of changing conditions.

Trail 7 has been re-opened allowing access to the front beach in addition to intermediate access between trails 6 and 7, as marked by signage.

Trail 6 remains closed due to loss of beach profile at 6 and north into Orleans.

OSVs should use caution as significant overwash occurred last night and conditions are changing daily. All “No parking/No Stopping” areas and other off-limit areas should be respected.

The OSV corridor and closed areas south of the flagpole remain as previously established.

In their announcement, Chatham Natural Resources officials reiterated the department’s strict dog policy for North Beach. All dogs must be leashed anywhere on the beach, there is a zero tolerance policy for unleashed dogs at this time.

The town will provide updated information on their website as conditions change.
