Over 200 Mashpee Residents Attend Monday’s Town Meeting

MASHPEE – More than 200 Mashpee residents attended Town Meeting on Monday night at Mashpee High School to vote on 31 articles on the warrant.

Residents approved $38,000 to dredge the Popponesset Approach Channel and $100,000 in Community Preservation Act funds to buy a 1.2-acre property on Cypress Circle.

New regulations on short-term rentals, including the hiring of a compliance inspector to enforce the rules and a consulting firm to notify property owners, was approved by voters at Town Meeting.

Voters also approved $250,000 to spent on a feasibility study for a multi-town wastewater treatment facility at Joint Base Cape Cod.

An article that allows for accessory apartments as a by-right use in existing homes, new construction and detached structures passed, but a ban on plastic straws and polystyrene foam products was postponed indefinitely.
