Performances of ‘Flowers in the Desert’ Underway in Cotuit

COTUIT – Performances of the play “Flowers in the Desert” are underway at Cotuit Center for the Arts.

The play runs through November 24 in the Black Box Theater and performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

After 14 years of marriage, Britt, played by Jade Schuyler, and Joe, played by Paul Schuyler, called it quits. Joe is surprised when Britt asks him to try again three years later.

Cheater Joe still loves his ex and their boys and is willing to go along with date-nights and counseling – until he realizes that Britt has a very specific agenda.

Britt and Joe are flawed characters and their journey of growth and redemption, and their efforts to reconnect, communicate and care for each other are funny, touching and real.

“Flowers in the Desert,” which was written by Donna Hoke, was a finalist in the inaugural contest of the American Association of Community Theaters in 2013.

Hoke has received numerous nominations and awards for her plays.

The play is presented by Jade Schuyler.

Tickets are $20, and $15 for members. To purchase tickets, visit artsonthecape.org.
