PROVINCETOWN – The Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum opens for the 2018 season on Saturday and will waive admission on the first day.

The museum will feature more than 40 events this year and will offer free admission on Wednesday’s from 5 to 7 p.m. between May 30 and August 29.

The season opening coincides with the Spring Celebration Egg Hunt Saturday morning at 10:30. The free event on the lawn of the monument is for children of all ages with an accompanying adult.

“We welcome all visitors from near and far to come experience everything the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum has to offer this season,” said David Weidner, the PMPM executive director. “With over 40 events planned for the upcoming season there will be something for everyone to experience up at High Pole Hill Road.”

The PMPM contains several permanent collections highlighting the history of Provincetown, including the first landing of the Mayflower Pilgrims and the building of the monument and it’s maritime past.

A new exhibit, “The Del Deos – One Creative Family in Provincetown,” will be added this year. The exhibit focuses on the work of the late author, historian and community activist, Josephine Del Deo, her painter husband, Salvatore, and other members of the family.

The museum is also extending the season through January 1 to participate in Holly Folly, Christmas and New Year’s First Light celebrations.
