KA_Ptown_provincetown_town hall light snow_flurries_winter_commercial street_010416125PROVINCETOWN – The Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum recently announced that the organization is launching a search for a new executive director.

John McDonagh, who has held the position for five years, will be leaving in October to take over as executive director of the USS Massachusetts Memorial Committee, Inc. in Fall River.

“We wish John much success and are grateful for his five years of service,” said Christopher Snow, PMPM’s Board of Trustees President. “In John’s years here he helped us accomplish a great deal, including a number of capital projects, special exhibitions, property beautification, and robust admissions and membership programs.”

A four-person search committee has been formed for the broad search, this as the organization gears up for the 400th anniversary of the Pilgrim’s landing and signing of the Mayflower Compact in Provincetown, which is fast approaching.

“Our biggest challenge ahead for our institution and in fact regionally would be prepping for the celebration of 2020, marking the 400th anniversary of (the Pilgrims) landing in Provincetown,” Snow said.

No timeline has been given as to when a new executive director of the organization will be named.
