Plymouth Brockton Bus Lines Staff Shortage Affects Service

busHYANNIS – Plymouth Brockton Bus lines has been hit with a shortage of drivers at the height of their busy season on Cape Cod.

Cape Cod passengers have found buses to be full or canceled all together.

The problem is a series of people retired, quit, took vacation and wen out sick all at the same time, according to Plymouth Brockton Bus lines vice president Christopher Anzuoni

He said the company apologizes for the inconvenience to customers.

“The customers are used to us being there when we say we’re going to be there and everybody gets a ride. That’s always been our way of doing business. Unfortunately we just haven’t been able to do that. This past month we’ve had mechanics driving; we’ve had supervisors driving,” he said.

He said it has been tough to find new drivers.

“We’ve been having a difficult time finding employees. Even with all the job shortages that you hear about. It doesn’t seem that people are interested in driving buses.

He said the company is actively hiring for new bus drivers and interested people can contact the company headquarters in Plymouth.

“Just this week we had a half a dozen people that we interviewed. We’re hiring four of those. And there are a lot more people that are asking. But we still need more. We’re trying as best we can to solve the problem as quick as we can,” he said.
