EDGARTOWN – Edgartown has a new police chief after the town’s Board of Selectmen tapped a Plymouth police captain for the job.
Bruce McNamee was the unanimous choice of the Board at their meeting Monday night, according to the Martha’s Vineyard Gazette.
He was one of three finalists for the position, along with Lt. Brian Lauzon of the Natick Police Department and Massport Assistant Chief of Police Robert DeFlaminis Jr. There were 25 initial applicants for the job.
McNamee, a 24-year law enforcement veteran who has spent the last decade with the Plymouth Police Department, has family ties to the island. His wife Mary grew up in Oak Bluffs and the couple own a home on the island.
