Plymouth Tourism Boards Find Their Next Executive Director

PLYMOUTH – The Plymouth County Development Council and Destination Plymouth found their next Executive Director in Lea Filson, who takes over for the late Paul Cripps after his seventeen year run as director before her.

“We received over 70 applications for the Executive Director position, and chose Lea from 5 excellent final applicants,” said Jim Saunders, President of the Plymouth County Development Council.

“She has a strong tourism background and knows Plymouth well, something we were looking for as we approach the 2020 anniversary for the Mayflower voyage.”

Next year will mark the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower voyage, an important milestone for Plymouth.

Filson has thirteen years of tourism experience working in New Orleans, LA. Prior to that, she was a broadcast anchor and reporter.

She also served on the board of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants for the past fifteen years, making her familiar with the Plymouth area through frequent visits several times a year.

“Paul Cripps was an industry giant, and will be missed,” said Filson. “He left a dynamic professional team that I am honored to work with, and two strong boards that will set the vision as we move forward.”

Lea Filson started as Executive Director on July 1st
