Polar Plunge Another Success for Cape Cod MSPCA

CENTERVILLE – The fourth annual MSPCA Polar Bear Plunge was held Sunday at Craigville Beach in Centerville.

40 degree temperatures and frigid waters didn’t couldn’t keep more than 100 spectators and participants away, mith each of the 70 plunders receiving a special Polar Bear Plunge towel.

The $25 fee all goes straight the MSPCA-Cape Cod and is used for direct animal care right here on Cape.

Sara Kohls is the chairwoman of the event,

“This started as a small fundraiser a few years ago to raise money for the selter,” said event chairwoman Sara Kohls.

“And now it’s a $30,000 fundraiser.”

“And it’s a really quick fundraiser,” continued Kohls, “because you run in and ten seconds later you’re done.”

The event was expected to raise over $30,000 to meet the medical and sheltering needs of the hundreds of animals who shelter at the MSPCA every year before they are placed into new homes.
