WOODBRIDGE, Va. (AP) — Police in Northern Virginia say a domestic dispute turned to gunfire that killed one police officer and wounded two others while a county leader says a civilian woman is also dead.
Prince William County police say Officer Ashley Guindon was sworn in Friday after rejoining the department she served with previously. A suspect in custody is described as a member of the military.
More than 100 patrol cars lined the roads outside a Northern Virginia hospital early this morning as a somber escort for the body.
The other officers are hospitalized and expected to survive.
The suspect is expected in court tomorrow and a prosecutor says a capital murder charge will be sought.
