Police, Animal Officials Help Save Dolphins After Washing Ashore on Nantucket

Nantucket DolphinNANTUCKET – It wasn’t an ordinary rescue for police on Nantucket Wednesday.

Officers helped two dolphins, a mother and a baby, that had come ashore in the harbor near Washington Street.

Animal control officer Suzy Gale and Sgt. Keith Robinson responded to the scene and were able to get the animals back into deeper water. As of late yesterday, the dolphins were still in the harbor.

Residents are asked to contact police on their non-emergency business line at 508-228-1212 if they encounter any stranded dolphins.
