Police Investigate Stabbing in Wareham

police04WAREHAM – Wareham police are investigating a stabbing at a local motel.

On Tuesday at approximately 4 am, police officers responded to the Silver Lake Motel where a woman told them that two men had entered the motel room and assaulted her and two men in the room.

It was reported that a gunshot was heard inside the room as one of the assailants struggled with one of victims, Moises Mojica, 20, of Bronx, New York.

The suspects fled the area and it is unknown who fired the weapon, which has not been located.

According to police, no injuries were sustained as a result of the gunshot.

Mojica was the only victim transported to the hospital as a result of the disturbance.

During investigation of the incident, officers noticed that Mojica had apparently been stabbed in the side and suffered what appeared to be a non-life-threatening injury.

He was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, then transported to a Boston area hospital via Med-Flight.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Wareham Police Detective Division.

Police say the motive is unclear at this time, although the attack on the room residents was not a random act.

A backpack owned by the stabbing victim was taken by the suspects during the incident.
