Police Looking for Carjacking Suspect

CENTERVILLE- Barnstable Police are looking for the suspect responsible for stealing a car in the Ninety-Nine Restaurant parking lot in Centerville last night.Police Officer

Around 9:45 p.m., police say Melisa Martinez was driving a brown 1998 Toyota Avalon and parked the vehicle in the parking lot with the car running and the doors unlocked.

Martinez told police she had returned from a convenience store and was dropping off ice cream to her co-workers.

As she was leaving the restaurant, she noticed a man in her car backing out of the parking space.

She then ran after the vehicle and grabbed onto the passenger’s side window which was slightly ajar.

Martinez yelled at the suspect, saying “this is not your car” and the suspect then stepped on the gas and dragged her for a short distance before she let go.

The vehicle was recovered around 11:20 p.m. near the corner of East Osterville Road and Route 28.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years old, with a shaven head, and a possible beard, wearing a black t-shirt, white shorts and white sneakers.
