Cape Cod Law Enforcement Takes Part in Annual ‘Shop with a Cop’

HYANNIS – Police officers across Cape Cod hosted the 7th annual Back-to-School Shop with a Cop event Wednesday.

Law enforcement officials worked with local students to provide them with essential items for the new school year, in an effort to help those who do not have the means to cover all school expenses.

“We set them up with a backpack full of school supplies before we come here, so all the stuff that you would go to some place to buy your pencils and your pens and your notebooks. And then we take them for back to school clothes shopping,” said Nick Pasquarosa, the school resource officer for the Yarmouth Police Department who has been a part of this event multiple times.

Students were treated to a complimentary lunch at The Loft Restaurant at the Cove in West Yarmouth, before heading off to Old Navy in Hyannis.

Each student was given a $125 gift card.

“Any interaction with the kids is strictly positive, it’s always a blast,” Pasquarosa said.

“It’s really great to do something for a kid who has earned a break and giving them a boost where a boost may be needed.”

A similar event is also held during the holiday season every year.

The event is made possible by donations from the public.

Pasquarosa said anyone interested in supporting this event in the future can contact Sergeant Diana Wells of the Yarmouth Police Department.
