YARMOUTH PORT – The Cape Cod Mosquito Control Project is warning Cape residents and visitors that more mosquitos have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
The tests were conducted in Barnstable County, samples of mosquitos were taken in Pocasset and Marstons Mills this week.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has raised the risk level for transmission of West Nile Virus in Barnstable County from low to moderate in the following towns: Bourne, Falmouth, Sandwich, Mashpee Barnstable, Yarmouth, Dennis, Harwich and Brewster.
Officials with the Mosquito Control Project say residents and visitors should consider the possibility of the virus in all Cape towns.
Tests earlier this month confirmed the presence of West Nile in Falmouth, Dennis, Barnstable, Bourne and Yarmouth.
West Nile is widespread throughout the Commonwealth this year.
