Potential Independence House Volunteers Invited to Open House

HYANNIS – Independence House of Hyannis will be hosting an open house later this week for people interested in becoming a volunteer with the non-profit.

For nearly 40 years Independence house has provided counseling and advocacy to the victims of domestic and sexual violence.

Interested individuals will be able to learn about opportunities that include becoming a medical accompaniment advocate for sexual assault survivors, administrative assistant volunteers, mentors, outreach advocate volunteers, food pantry volunteers, workshop presenters and more. 

Applications will be available at IndependanceHouse.org and can be submitted during the evening’s open house.

The event is scheduled for this Wednesday, September 13, from 5:00 until 7:00pm at the organization’s Hyannis office located at 160 Bassett Lane.

After the open house, qualified volunteer applicants will be contacted to schedule a private interview.

Applicants will be required to pass a security screening and complete an extensive training program.
