Weather-Related Power Outages Hit Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard

PowerlinesBARNSTABLE – Power outages hit the region this morning, at one point leaving over 4,000 homes in the dark.

Eversource spokesman Paul Connolly said a downed power line on Quinaquisset Road started the outages around 5:30 this morning, leaving over 800 homes in the dark in Barnstable and 900 in Mashpee. The downed line also knocked out power to just under 100 homes in Sandwich.

Power was restored shortly before 8:30 am.

Over 2,200 homes were without power for a short time on Martha’s Vineyard this morning. Those outages were in West Tisbury, Chilmark, and Aquinnah.

Connolly said both outages were most likely weather related, as heavy rainfall and gusty winds hit the region this morning.

As of 8:40 am, there were scattered outages across Cape Cod, including 650 in Brewster and 150 in Wellfleet.
