BOURNE – The latest in a series of prescribed burns will take place Wednesday at Camp Edwards on Joint Base Cape Cod.
The burn will be conducted by the Massachusetts National Guard’s Natural Resources Program.
The primary objective is conservation management and restoration.
The operation will also provide for wildfire hazard reduction, firefighter training, and training lands improvement.
The fire management program for Camp Edwards uses prescribed fire for ecological benefits by attempting to duplicate the role of natural fire.
Camp Edwards is home to some 37 state listed species of plants and animals.
