PROVINCETOWN – The calendar has turned to June which means summer has arrived in Provincetown.

The Provincetown Art Association and Museum is kicking off a summer full of new exhibitions.

“Art of the Garden” is underway and runs through the end of July. Each year the museum presents pieces from its permanent collection featuring garden elements.

The exhibit runs in conjunction with the Secret Garden Tour through P-Town which will be held on July 17.

From June 17 through August 7 the museum will exhibit Ray Elman and Norma Holt: The Outer Cape Art Colony in Portrait.

Holt utilized photo-documentation as a means to initiate social change with her work taking her to the streets of New York, to anti-Vietnam War protests and villages of the working poor across the globe. She summered in Provincetown for over five decades and created two books from her time on the Cape.

Elman came to Provincetown in 1970 and make abstract art through the late 80s. He shifted his focus to documenting the local art community with portraits of the many artists and writers who embraced the Outer Cape.

The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in June with Fridays staying open until 10 p.m.
