Provincetown Art Association Extends Hopper Exhibit

PROVINCETOWN – The Provincetown Art Association and Museum has extended the exhibition, Edward and Josephine Hopper from the Permanent Collection.

Responding to overwhelming interest by scholars, critics and visitors, the showcase, which was originally scheduled to wrap up on January 28th, has been extend through April 1 with new material added to the collection.

The cases will be replaced with new examples from Josephine Hopper’s diary entries, letters to Edward Hopper from artists Charles Burchfield and John Sloan and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and ephemera from the artists’ lives.

The exhibition, which opened in August 2017, is comprised of works donated to the museum’s Permanent Collection by Laurence C. and J. Anton Schiffenhaus in honor of their mother Mary Schiffenhaus (a close and personal friend of the Hoppers), with contributions from two anonymous donors.
