PROVINCETOWN – After a town meeting earlier this year approved $25,000 in grants to be awarded to economic development initiatives, an economic development committee was formed to carry out that process.
The committee recently announced it will divide $5,000 of that money into smaller grants of $500 or less. The rest will be given away in larger sums, up to $5,000.
Committee Chair Steven Latasa-Nicks said job creation is the priority. One issue he said the town and area at large faces is keeping jobs beyond peak season.
“One of the things we’re looking at is how we can extend our season beyond its traditional bookends,” Latasa-Nicks said.
He said the formal call for entries should be made the first week in January with a mid-February deadline.
The grants should be issued sometime by mid-April, he said.
