It captures a snapshot in time when the town quickly transitioned from a former whaling capital into the world’s largest art colony, according to the museum.

Bohemians leaving New York City and evaders of World War I in Europe came together to form a culture of openness and artistic merit.

The exhibit will explore the rise of the art colony and painters like Elmer Browne and writers such as Susan Glaspell and Eugene O’Neill.

The museum is located on High Pole Hill Road. More information is available on www.pilgrim-monument.org.
