PROVINCETOWN – Officials in Provincetown are trying out something new this fall instead of the usual Special Town Meeting. Instead, two public forums will be held this week.

“Traditionally town meeting in Provincetown in the fall has been about special, large-ticket capital items and we just don’t have any of those on the agenda this year so we were able to pass,” said Tom Donegan, a Provincetown selectman.

The public forums will be held at Town Hall Wednesday, November 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, November 19 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Forum topics will include affordable housing and zoning, along with other capital items that could make their way onto the spring warrant.

“What we have done is identified a few of the topics that may come up before town meeting and we wanted to start a community discussion about those topics,” Donegan said.
