Provincetown Jazz Festival to Return to Cotuit

COTUIT – An evening which features some of the best Jazz heard anywhere returns to Cotuit later this month.

The Provincetown Jazz Festival will be held at the Cotuit Center for the Arts Monday, August 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The festival will feature performances by Ken Peplowski on clarinet, vocalist Alta DeChamplain, pianist Matt DeChamplain, bassist Ron Ormsby and drummer Bart Wiseman, the founder and executive producer of the festival.

Weisman says they are excited to bring the festival back to Cotuit and that there is a great appreciation for jazz across Cape Cod.

Alta and Matt DeChamplain will open the concert. Jazz was the foundation of their friendship as both loved the same musicians, including Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson, Ray Brown and John Hendricks.

Peplowski, who was described as “arguably the greatest living jazz clarinetist” by Russell Davies of BBC2, travels at least half of the year and has appeared at the Newport Jazz Festival, Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall.

He will per accompanied by Matt DeChamplain, Ormsby and Weisman.

Tickets are $30. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit artsonthecape.org.
