Provincetown Museum to Feature Del Deo Family Exhibit

PROVINCETOWN – A new exhibit is launching early next month at the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum.

“Creating a Difference – The Del Deo Family of Provincetown: Art and Activism on the Outer Cape” will be on display through the 2018 season.

Salvatore Del Deo and his late wife Josephine have been year-round members of the community for more than 6 decades.

The exhibit showcases the family’s legacy of major impact on the natural, cultural, culinary, architectural and educational landscape of the Outer Cape.

The couple recognized the importance of working with the many groups that made up the town’s winter and summer populations and were able to form alliances between artists and writers and members of the local fishing community.

The Del Deo’s championed many causes from supporting the arts to preserving the dune shacks at the Cape Cod National Seashore.

The exhibit will include paintings by Salvatore, literature from Josephine, sculpture from their son Romolo Del Deo and commemorative pieces that represent the impact that the family has had on the community.
