PROVINCETOWN – Many people ask themselves how they can be more involved in their community.

For residents of our community, there are many outlets for community involvement.

One such way is the Community-Oriented Citizen Police Academy, a unique opportunity for you to actively learn about the men and women who serve and protect them.

The Community-Oriented Citizens Police Academy gives members of the community the opportunity to understand the job of your police officers and meet the men and women of the Provincetown Police Department who serve your community.

This free program will allow you the opportunity to see and learn about the duties and responsibilities of the police department. The key to the success of this program is the enthusiasm and participation that you bring to our Citizens Police Academy.

Each student will participate in a ride-along with an officer during their patrol. We would like all students to attend every class with the understanding that sometimes this isn’t possible. In order for students to graduate, they must not miss more than two classes.

We are in the process of planning a fall session for the Community Oriented Policing Citizens Police Academy.

At this point, this class will run for approximately 8 weeks for 2-3 hours once a week If you are interested in taking this class, please contact police officer Kevan Spoor at 508-487-7000 Extension 335 or via email at [email protected]

Hours are flexible and depending on demand the class can be held either during the day or evening.
