PROVINCETOWN – Provincetown residents are set to consider a $6 million sewer expansion project, two land purchases, changes to the town charter and some zoning changes at special town meeting tonight.
The sewer project would require a $2 million federal grant and a $4 million loan to be paid back over the next three or four decades. If approved, the project would add 155,000 gallons to the town’s daily sewer capacity, an increase of about 15 percent.
Also on the ballot is a proposal for land purchases that would see the construction of a park along Commercial Street and additional green space in town. Zoning changes being considered would allow municipal buildings to exceed current height limitations and establish a new harbor zone, creating a Harborfront Overlay District.
