PROVINCETOWN – Provincetown Town Manager David Pangore announced on Monday night that he would be leaving the office on May 10th.

Panagore told the Select Board that he had been recruited for a senior management position with the state.

He called the decision to leave after nearly four years one of the hardest in his professional career

Panagore did not immediately say what the new position was with the Commonwealth.

In a letter announcing his decision to the public, he praised what he called “an amazing team of dedicated professionals” who work for Provincetown.

Panagore also stressed that his decision to leave had nothing to do with town politics or any disputes that have taken place among the Select Board.

There was no immediate work on how the town would move forward in looking for a replacement.
