P’Town Voters Back Universal Pre-K Funding

PROVINCETOWN – Voters in Provincetown supported a series of spending measures at town election aimed at easing the burden on families trying to raise young children in town.

Residents voted in favor of three proposition 2 1/2 overrides to pay for universal pre-k, preschool, and wee care for infants and toddlers. The $308,000 bill will raise taxes on the average property owner by about $100.

Voters also approved money for beach renourishment and shoreline protection efforts, two new firetrucks, and a new boiler at the fire station.

In the only contested race on the ballot, residents elected Lise King to the Select Board. She defeated Mark Hatch 774-236.
