PTV Offers Basic Camera and Editing Classes

ptvPROVINCETOWN – Cape residents looking to learn how to use camcorders and editing tools will have an opportunity this fall and winter through Provincetown Community Television.

The non-profit community media center will hold basic and intermediate classes for community members from November through February.

PTV will offer Camera Basics classes where participants will learn how to use their Canon X-A-10 camcorders to capture HD footage.

Along with an introduction to camcorder operation, attendees will also learn the basics of good framing, coverage, and audio recording.

This is a required course to check out PTV camcorders. No prior video experience is required.

Editing Nuts and Bolts classes will teach participants the basic tools needed to edit in Final Cut Pro X, including how to import and organize footage, cut and add transitions, music and title cards. No editing experience is necessary but basic computer experience is required.

The classes will be taught by Public Access Director Heather Reed. Classes are free for PTV Members. Membership is $30 annually.

Experienced members can also sign up for Intro to Cinematography and The Art of the Fine Cut classes.
