Public Meeting to Explore Route 28 Stretch of Cotuit

COTUIT – A corridor study is being conducted on Route 28 in Cotuit to address safety and congestion and local officials are again seeking input from the public.

The Cape Cod Commission and the town of Barnstable will hold a second public meeting tonight which will include a presentation of potential improvements that were developed based on feedback gathered at the first meeting in June. The presentation will be followed by an interactive group discussion.

The focus of the public meeting is to gather feedback from residents on the potential improvements to the corridor.

The study encompasses the section of Route 28 from Santuit-Newtown Road to Route 130 which has been identified as an area for investigation due to congestion issues and high crash rates at both intersections.

The improvements being developed seek to improve safety, reduce congestion and improve the accommodation of all users while remaining in character with the natural and cultural context.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cotuit Freedom Hall.

This is the final planned public meeting for the roadway project. A report will be completed following a review of the input gathered from the meeting and other comments received from the public.

The latest information, including a copy of the presentation and notes from the first meeting, is available on the website for the corridor study at
