Pulitzer Prize Winner Talks about Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s Legacy

FALMOUTH – Eileen McNamara, author of “Eunice: The Kennedy that Changed the World” will talk about Eunice Kennedy Shriver’s legacy during a Falmouth Museums on the Green event.

In the book, the Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, reveals a woman ahead of her time. With access to never-before-seen private papers, McNamara creates a vivid portrait of an officious, compassionate, indefatigable, devout, cigar-smoking woman who emerged from her brothers’ shadows and founded the Special Olympics on behalf of millions of children, and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Larry Tye, author of Bobby Kennedy: Making of a Liberal Icon, will also be part of the discussion.

The event gets underway at 7:00 pm at Falmouth Academy on August 1st. Admission is $10 and reservations are suggested. For more information and how to register, you can visit museumsonthegreen.org or call 508-548-4857, ext. 10.

The Falmouth Historical Society’s mission (which runs Museums on the Green) is to preserve, share and celebrate the history and culture of Falmouth through its archives, exhibitions, educational programs and community events.
