Rain Monday to Mix with Snow Tuesday

HYANNIS – Rain and wind is expected to continue Monday on the Cape and Islands and Southeastern Massachusetts.

Wind gusts of up to 45 mph are expected along the coast and the Cape will see high temperatures throughout today in the low to mid 40s. A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service through 1 p.m.

A second round of the storm will hit most of the state with snow again Monday night through Tuesday morning.

The Cape and Islands could see rain turn to snow Tuesday morning with up to an inch possible for most of the Cape. The Upper Cape could see around 1-3 inches of snow in the Falmouth and Mashpee areas, with about 2-4 inches possible around the Cape Cod Canal.

The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Southern Plymouth County from 7 p.m. through 1 p.m. Tuesday. A few more inches of snow are expected just north and west of the Cape Cod Canal with higher totals further north and west.

Storm surges of up to 2 feet are expected, but astronomical tides are low. A Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for up to a foot of inundation above ground level possible for Eastern Plymouth County, and Nantucket.
