YARMOUTH – The Dennis-Yarmouth High School football team will be celebrated by the community in the wake of their state championship victory earlier this month.
School officials will hold a recognition rally at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 21 at the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School Upper Gym. Community members will get to meet the team and take photos with the trophy.
The D-Y band will perform at the event.
The Dolphins capped an undefeated season with a 37-7 drubbing of West Springfield in the Division 5 Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium on December 2.
Dolphins quarterback Jacob McCarthy completed 14 of his 22 passes for 167 yards and a couple of touchdowns.
Running back/linebacker Robert Evans ran for two scores and returned an interception for a touchdown.
D-Y was one of two Cape Cod high schools to win a state football championship this season. Mashpee won their third straight state title by beating Blackstone Valley Tech in the Division 7 Super Bowl.
