Barnstable County Real Estate Activity Remains Strong

BARNSTABLE –  The Cape Cod real estate market remains strong.

Barnstable County Register of Deeds John Meade reports that the volume of real estate sales in April of this year was up 1.6 percent from April of 2017 and the total value of sales saw a 1.3 percent increase from 2017.

There was also an increase of 1.9 percent in the mortgage activity from April of 2017.

“We had a nice positive month of April…. It’s always nice to have the numbers on the positive side than the negative side,” said Meade.

The median individual property sale value was also up 5.7 percent from last year’s numbers.

There were 624 deeds recorded in April with stated sales above $50,000 representing a stated value of $295,937,796.

The median sale price of property in Barnstable County in April of this year has also hit $370,000.

“The median being up would tell me that we are starting to see some pick up in the higher end market. The mid 5’s… up to $1 million. That end of the market is starting to… [go up] a little better,” said Meade.

There were 1,010 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000 in April of 2018 with a total value of $341,393,523. The median mortgage amount for commercial, residential or other was $267,610.

This is in contrast to 991 mortgages recorded in April of 2017 with a total value of $372,787,446.
