Real Estate Sales Volume and Value Up Slightly in July

HYANNIS – The Barnstable County Register of Deeds reports that the real estate sales volume and value rose slightly last month.

The volume of real estate sales was up 1.7 percent from July of 2016 and the total value of sales was up 0.2 percent over last year.

The median individual property sale value was up nearly 5 percent from July 2016 at $355,000.

“We had a relatively strong July and that might bode well for activity all the way through the year,” said Jack Meade.

July saw a 4.5 percent decrease in the volume of mortgage activity from the previous year’s levels.

For the year-to-date, volume of sales is up 4.9 percent, total value of sales is up 7.3 percent, individual sales value is up 6.1 percent and mortgage volume is down 2.6 percent.

“Through seven months of the year we’re in good steads so, knock on wood, we can finish strong for the last five and have a solid year,” said Meade.

The number of foreclosure deeds increased from 14 in July of 2016 to 22 last month, or a 57.1 percent increase. They are up 3.7 percent for the year-to-date.
