NEW BEDFORD – The summer season is just around the corner and the Buzzards Bay Coalition is hosting three events giving local residents and visitors a chance to be active outside while supporting clean water.

The 25th anniversary Buzzards Bay Swim on June 30th will feature more than 300 individuals swimming 1.2 miles across outer New Bedford Harbor to a beach in Fairhaven. The event also includes a beach party with awards, live music, massages, food and a beer tent.

Positions are still available on Team Buzzards Bay for the annual Falmouth Road Race on August 19.

The Coalition has a limited number of bibs available for the 7-mile race for runners who are excited about raising $1,000 or more for the organization.

Supporters can also form teams for the Buzzards Bay Watershed Ride on September 30.

Participants can choose from 35-, 75- and 100-mile seaside cycling routes that finish for lunch and a waterside finish line party.

Proceeds from the events benefit the Coalition’s work to protect Buzzards Bay from dangers like nitrogen pollution, oil spills and disappearing forests, streams and wetlands.
