Registration Open for CCYP’s Annual Community Breakfast

WEST YARMOUTH – Cape Cod Young Professionals will host its 13th Annual Community Breakfast next month in Harwich.

The event highlights the successes of the nonprofit over the last year in its work to connect, engage, and advance the region’s young workforce.

The event also acknowledges volunteers and supporters along with the announcement of the Career Connect Scholarship winner and Giving Circle Grant recipients.

“It’s really an opportunity to not only celebrate those successes over the past year, but to highlight some new and different things we are doing that people may not be aware of,” said Lauren Barker, the CCYP CEO.

The special guest speaker at this year’s breakfast is Jung-Ho Pak, the artistic director & conductor for the Cape Symphony.

“We’re really pleased to have him come in and speak to our group because there is a lot of synergy there,” Barker said. “His comments will be on the subject of connection and community connection, which resonates really well with our mission and work at CCYP.”

Barker said there are some exciting things going on in the effort to make Cape Cod a better place for younger workers.

“There’s a lot of great progress being made and the right conversations are happening,” she said.

Barker said sometimes it seems like it is only talk without any outcomes.

“I think, in terms of where we were a year ago, there’s been so much progress on just the conversations about awareness that’s built around things like the need for better housing options for young people across the Cape and better child care opportunities so that people can work full-time and not have their days interrupted at work.”

Barker said the discussions also continue about the need for more year-round high-paying jobs.

She said the issue of keeping and attracting young people in the region is complex, “but all the right players are at the table and the right conversations are happening and we are just pleased to see the progress.”

The event is November 14 at the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club. To register, visit capecodyoungprofessionals.org.

Admission is $45 and $35 for members. Day-of registration will be available, space permitting.

Registration, breakfast and networking begin at 7:30 a.m. and the program begins at 8 a.m.

Barker said all are welcome regardless of age, industry or background.
