Registration Open for Inaugural Sandwich PMC Kids Ride

SANDWICH – Registration is now open for the inaugural Sandwich PMC Kids Ride that is scheduled for May 13.

The ride is designed for young riders to traverse the same route used for the annual Pan-Mass Challenge, with the same goal of raising money to support cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

“In addition to raising money for the Jimmy Fund, it’s a great opportunity for kids to participate in an event that’s philanthropic and allows them to do something for something that is bigger than themselves, do something for others and let them feel that they’re doing their part,” said local organizer Kevin Sareault.

Children ages 3-14 can choose from several distances based on their age and abilities:

  • Powerplant/Striper Spin – A supervised ride on the Cape Cod Canal Path for little ones aged 3-6 and those on more than two wheels
  • The Sagamore – four miles round trip to the Sagamore Bridge
  • The Bourne – 10 miles round trip to the Bourne Bridge
  • The 3 Bridge Canal Challenge – 13 miles round trip to the Railroad Bridge

Registration and other ride details are available online at kids.pmc.org/sandwich.aspx.

There is a $20 registration fee and a minimum fundraising goal of $25 per rider.

Each rider will receive a T-Shirt, water bottle and other special surprises.

“The PMC Kids Ride is a great event, the mission is fantastic and 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to the Jimmy Fund,” said Sareault.

Sponsorships are available and provide individuals and local businesses with opportunities to be included in goodie bags for the riders, online and social media promotion and an on-site presence on the day of the event.
