CENTERVILLE – In the midst of his first term on Beacon Hill, 2nd Barnstable State Representative Will Crocker has officially launched his campaign for a second term.
The Republican has been active, filing legislation to increase penalties for assault and battery on a police officer – which was recently signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker.
“That was something I was involved in, one of the pieces of legislation I filed that has become part of law now, that is great for the community,” Crocker said.
If re-elected, Crocker says he will continue to focus on issues pertaining directly to the district, which includes the 62 social service agencies that are currently in Hyannis.
“Hyannis has borne the burden of all these social service agencies for decades and it’s time for other municipalities to step up and take some of that responsibility,” Crocker said.
Other areas of focus for Crocker include mental health, substance abuse and recovery, and tourism.
Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito was on hand last week for Crocker’s re-election launch.
Democrat Paul Cusack of Osterville has announced a run against Crocker.
