Rescheduled Polar Plunges Set to Jump In This Weekend

Polar Plungers at Loop Beach in Cotuit on January 1

YARMOUTH – A couple of polar plunges that were cancelled on New Year’s Day – ironically because it was too cold — will take place this weekend.

The Barnstable Harbor “New Year’s Day” swim will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. at Mill Way Beach.

Money raised from the sale of commemorative t-shirts will benefit Dance in the Rain, an organization which focuses on peer to peer support for people with mental health issues.

A rescheduled polar plunge will also take place at Smuggler’s Beach in Yarmouth on Sunday to benefit the Friends of Yarmouth Council. A $20 donation is requested.

An after-plunge party will be hosted byt The Riverway Lobster House in Yarmouth.

Temperatures this weekend are expected to be in the balmy 40’s.

The Monument Beach polar plunge cancelled on New Year’s Day will take place on January 27.

In February, polar plunges will be held for the MSPCA on Super Bowl Sunday at Craigville Beach and for Child and Family Services on February 24, also at Craigville Beach.
