OSTERVILLE- Rescue crews responded to a call of two people in distress in the water around 5:50 p.m. this evening.
Units from the Osterville and Centerville Stations arrived at the scene, located at the end of Sea View Avenue in West Bay Osterville and the Dive Team was activated.
Units then found two 19-year-old men on the beach, refusing medical attention.
The men explained to rescue personnel that they had attempted to swim to Sampsons Island but got caught in the current and eventually made it back to shore on their own.
All emergency/rescue units returned without incident.
