Residential Building Permits Jump on Cape Cod

HYANNIS – The number of residential building permits issued on Cape Cod took a big jump last month, compared to June 2017.

According to the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod, 355 permits were issued in June 2018, compared to 284 for the same period one year before.

That’s an increase of 25 percent.

The numbers also indicate an uptick in the high-end housing market, with the average value of new permits in June coming in at just over $1,000,000.

That compares to just under $420,000 in June 2017.

The total value of issued residential permits went from $25.3 million to $44.6 million this year

The value of the average remodeling permit was up just over 15 percent, while the number of remodeling permitS in June 2018 was 326, compared to 259 the last year.
