ORLEANS – Engineers, consultants, conservation agents and commissioners and coastal managers are all being invited to take part in Resilient Shores: Green Solutions.
In response to growing interest in the use of nature-based approaches to stabilize shorelines and bolster coastal resilience, the state Office of Coastal Zone Management, the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, and others have teamed up to bring this free day of training that will take participants on a journey of living shorelines “in practice”.
This workshop will deepen understanding of what living shorelines are, how and where they are being used, and lessons learned from their real world application.
Content shared will help to equip municipalities and other organizations with practical information they need to better assess and apply these approaches. This workshop will go beyond a general introduction and delve into more technical aspects of designing and constructing living shorelines.
The event will take place Thursday, April 12 at the Academy of Performing Arts in Orleans.
