Endangered North Atlantic right whales

PROVINCETOWN – The Center for Coastal Studies will continue tracking the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale this winter as the creatures migrate into the area.

The 50-foot, 79-ton whales do most of their eating spring through fall, and most spend winters in northern waters.

The species is one of the most endangered in the world, and are increasingly difficult to spot. They face threats from fishing gear entanglement, ship collisions and habitat degradation.

The Center will post regular tracking updates throughout the season on their facebook page and website, coastalstudies.org.
